Always plenty of advice out there – Patricia Fripp

With the increasing popularity of the World Wide Web it is now easy to find out about anything that might be of interest to us.  I’m into Public Speaking so am always on the lookout for ways in which I can improve.  This is so despite my forty years experience in the field.  But there are always people who know either more about our subject than we do, or aspects of it we’ve never been exposed to - or perhaps even thought about.  I am finding this sort of subject matter of late as I watch Patricia Fripp present her Educationals.

Patricia is reputedly the best Public Speaking Coach in the world today.  Whether or not that’s true I don’t know.   I do know, from what I’ve observed on YouTube, that she is the best I’ve ever heard.   Not necessarily the best speaker – though she is exceptional – but the best teacher or trainer in the subject.   Her knowledge is outstanding;  her techniques at presenting rivetting;  her delivery impeccable.

I have been watching her forty-eight minute presentation How to Write a Speech and it is absolutely chock full of information.   It is so good that I’ve actually started to take notes on it, pausing it every now and again so that I don’t miss any of the ‘asides’ and suble hints which are thrown in all along the way.

Patricia is, of course, a highly paid professional.  She makes that abundantly clear.   However, there is also a very generous quality about the way she throws in so many important points in her very short YouTube posts.    I can understand this helps her with her marketing.  But in this longer piece – 48 minutes – there is so much depth.    It’s a beauty!

I thank her in my mind for that.  I’ve learned a lot from it already and I’m sure I will continue to gain more as I re-read and think about what she has presented.  I recommend Patricia Fripp to all who are into Public Speaking and want to learn more about it.   She is a gem.

About Tom Ware

I'm into speaking to audiences. My particular forte is telling stories. Morevover, I've addressed over 750 audiences and in excess of 40,000 people during the past eighteen years - excluding those I've addressed in my Toastmasters clubs. Additionally, I've presented classes to adults on Metaphysics and Spirituality (non sectarian) and Popular Psychology between 2001 and 2008. I'm an avid writer, been at it for forty-five years. Speaking is a passion, of course, as mentioned above. I started in 1972 with Toastmasters. My speciality is Storytelling and some years ago people began to flatter me with the titles: Prince of Storytellers, and Master Storyteller. Also, Tusitala Tom (Tusitala means Storyteller in Polynesian) I am also into 'serious' meditation (Vipassana as taught by S N Goenka) Started that in 1986. Additionally, I'm an Automatic Writing practioner and have been able to 'channel' for over forty years. Bit about me. Born in London UK and migrated to Australia in 1951. Started my first job day after my fifteenth birthday in that year. I've been a postal worker, sailor, aviation air-ground man, overseas telegraph operator. I've worked for an electrical power-supply company, been a truck driver, a foundry labourer, laboratory assistant, a police radio operator, and office worker - even an Antarctic expeditioner. Worked and lived in a number of countries, but am now 'retired' and enjoying life - probably as never before. I've been married - yes to the same woman! - for fifty-three years and have three grown up children and four grandchildren.
